Thanksgiving Fun

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their family and friends this year. It was a small one for me. My family (mom, dad, & sister)had a honey baked ham, homemade apple cranberry stuffing (which is fantastic!), homemade cranberry sauce, homemade green bean casserole which my mom makes (another fantastic side dish), homemade sweet potato casserole, and a homemade key lime and pumpkin chiffon pie. I made the stuffing, pumpkin pie, and the cranberry sauce. I really enjoy being home with my family for the holidays. I had a lot of problems growing up, and not wanting to be around them a lot. That changed as soon as I started cooking for the holidays (and grew up a little). We just stayed home and watched Miracle on 34th Street, and some Criminal Minds episodes.

Since I had to work on Black Friday (12pm-12am) I didn't do any extreme shopping. . Not that I would have if I could have though. Lately I've preferred shopping online since I don't have to wait in line. For me It's just hassle free (as long as I can use Paypal)

what did you all do for thanksgiving and black friday?

Dragon Warrior Monsters! My First Mineral Eyeshadow Collection!

So I've decided to flaunt my geeky nerdiness. I'm a big gaming fan, and well I never knew quite how to incorporate it into other things I love to do. Thanks to Courtney of Phyrra, Caitlin of Shiro Cosmetics, and Anastasia of Lipsticks and Lightsabers I've settled on my very first geeky collection, Dragon Warrior Monsters. DWM has a sort of pokemon feel which is probably why I fell in love with it (yep I was one of those girls glued to my gameboy playing pokemon on the bus to and from school).

You can see my collection here on etsy.com

So far there are 10 colors in this collection, and they are all mineral shadows. There probably will be another 5 I'll make, and of course one HAS to be SLIME!! One of my favorites because there were so many different variations.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* Almiraj - a beautiful peachy pink mineral shadow with gold sparkles.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* Babble - a vibrant sparkly yellow green mineral shadow with shimmer.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* BattleRex(on the left, babble is on the right) - a beautiful sparkly light (but not to light) green with shimmer.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* Coatal - a beautiful shimmery raw sienna with red glitter.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* Evil Beast - a beautiful sparkly lavender mineral shadow.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* Gremlin - a beautiful sparkly medium grape/purple mineral shadow with shimmer.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* WingSlime - a beautiful sparkly mint green (slightly darker than mint ice cream :) ) mineral shadow with shimmer.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* Wingsnake - a beautiful turquoise based mineral shadow with a green sheen and sparkle.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
* Zap Bird - a fantastic darkened periwinkle mineral shadow with a purple sheen.

* Zoma - a beautiful bronze tinged sepia with green and red glitter.

Hope you all enjoy!!

Holiday Look #4

Today I thought I'd go with a "softer" look. I primary used the shadows from my Etsy store in this look. They are Winter Wonderland, Winter's Storm, First Snow, and Phoenician Royalty. Winter Wonderland all over the lid with Winter's Storm on the outer half blended up into the crease with Phoenician Royalty in the crease. First Snow was used on the inner corner. MAC's Vapor was used as a brown highlight. Bare Escentuals' Indigo liner was used on my lower lashline, and MAC's Signature Blue on my upper lash line. CoverGirl's LashBlast in black on my upper lashes.

Holiday Look #3

I used Bare Escentuals Buxom Liner in Blue Jade all over my lid and blended it in with a stiff flat brush. I then applied Burmese Beauty all over my lid and up into the crease. Skintone 2 was used on the inner corner, and Prized was used at my brown highlight. The Buxom liner was used on my lower lash line with CoverGirl's LashBlast in black on my top lashes.

Persephone Mineral's Sailor Senshi Collection

I really loved the colors from this collection. The only colors I'm disappointed are the Crystal Power colors since it is too gritty for me to try using as eye shadows. I found Mars Flame Sniper, and Jupiter Oak Evolution to be the same in consistency as the Crystal Power shadows. I wish they was more pigmentation to go with the glitter. If I can feel the glitter I won't use them, not because I have sensitive eyes or wear contacts, but because shadows where I can feel the glitter always have one heck of a time applying, they never go on even. In my opinion glitter should never be felt that is a PERSONAL PREFERENCE. The glitter I use in my shadows is bought from TKB, and they have a small enough hex that they cannot be felt between the fingers. I'd have to say I really like all of them. If I had to put them in order of my favorite to least favorite it would be Jupiter, Venus, Mars, and Mercury. The blues, Mercury, could've used a little more Ommphh in my opinion. I look forward to purchasing the Sailor Moon set, but I think that's all I'll be buying for now. I love glitter and shimmer, but for me I need to balance it with a matte shadow in my looks. I know Persephone Mineral's motto is you're never too old for glitter, but too Mich can be overkill. I'd like to see more duo chrome shades without a ton of glitter in the mix. I myself find it hard to make matte shadow for my company, but I know it is a must to reach different types of consumers.

Sephora FAIL

I went to my mailbox today to fine their VIB 20% off coupon a day after it had expired.. .. I was excited thinking maybe they had extended it, but alas they had not. . .So I was severely disappointed. This isnt' the first time Sephora let me down. I blogged about how I payed for expedited shipping, and it definitely did not arrive quickly even though I had paid for it. . . that's one of the reasons I don't buy online for from anymore even though they have some good deals.

Holiday Look #1

One of my very first MAC shadows, and probably one of my favorites is Cranberry. So I used that all over my lid with MAC's Embark on the outer corner and blended into the crease, MAC's skintone 2 on the inner corner, and MAC's prized as my brow highlight. Urban Decay's Bourbon 24/7 liner was used on my lower lash line, and Covergirl's LashBlast mascara in black on my upper lashes.

If I wasn't at work I would've added false lashes probably my MAC Hello Kitty ones, and done my liner a little heavier.

MAC Pink Nouveau Swatch

I'm not sold on this color yet. I do see some potential for it though. For instance possibly pairing it up with MAC's Dazzleglass in Steppin' Out. I bought this on makeupgeek.com off of another addict based off of Marlena's recommendation on the Top 15: Best MAC Lipsticks

EOTD: 11/13

I received a few compliments on this look, and thought I would share it with you. I used Nars Mangrove on the whole lid, MAC's Lucky Green on the middle, MAC's Glamour Check on the outer third and blended up into the crease, and MAC's Vapor as the brown highlight. Urban Decay's Bourbon 24/7 liner was used on my lower lash line, and Hard Candy's 1000 Lashes primer, CoverGirl's LashBlast in black, and Maybelline's Great Lash mascara in Royal Blue was used on my upper lashes.

I wish I could get better pictures out of my phone, but this was the best I could get!!

MAC Radicchio Lipstick Swatch

I bought this off of another beauty addict like myself. I've had several chances to get this lustre, but it never looked like something I would wear. I finally gave in, along with plink!, and pink nouveau. The other two I'm not too crazy about. I'll have swatches of them up either today it tomorrow.

EOTD: 11/11 One Year Anniversary Look

I primary used Urban Decay for this look, bit the eye liner and mascara are MUFE. The Cranberry color is Last
Call, and I think I used midnight cowboy or maui wowie on the inner corner. I can't remember sorry!

My foundation was MUFE GF #115 and cover fx primer. The blush was nars I can't remember which one, and the bronzer was nars laguna.

Meow Challange

I had purchased some samples of Meow Comsetics foundation, undereye concealer, blushes, brow powders, and a bronzer along with my plethora of eyeshadows. I decided on Frisky Mau for a foundation and Frisky Persian for a undereye concealer, and their Sizzle bronzer. Upon further investigation I found out that I think Frisky Persian may have been a better choice for a foundation, but it was too late my full size order had already been placed, and it shipped the day I came to this conclusion.

Here's me wearing what I had order plus Midsummer's Eve Masterpiece blush, Sandy Brown brow powder, MAC's Bold & Brazen eyeshadow, Almay's Amethyst liner, and Covergirl's LashBlast mascara in black.

I'm not sold on the Pampered Puss foundation just because, in person at least, my pink undertones could be seen quite clearly. I toned it down a bit after using a concealer brush to apply the foundation to the areas. I do get better coverage with Bare Escentual's Matte foundation, but when looking at the ingredients on both they seem to have the very same ones. I could still see it though. The concealer seems to be good, and the bronzer too. I noticed when I tried to apply the bronzer as a blush I had issues with the area turning red.

I don't think I'd purchase another foundation from them. I do need mineral foundation with my overly sensitive combination skin I just need to find the right one. While I like Bare Escentuals, and have used it for a while, it makes my skin itch.

Creative Process - Renaming Fatal Attraction

although I do like the name Fatal Attraction for my mineral makeup company I thought it was a little too cliche . . I was delving into my creative side tonight since I love to creatively write, and I came up with some ideas. They aren't the greatest, but it's something. If you guys have any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. I wanted to do a giveaway of 5 samples from my mineral shadow line, but no one seemed to be interested.

- Fatal Attraction (If I must stay with it)

- Creative Passion

- Through the Looking Glass

I wanted to possibly to something with Briar Rose since she is my favorite Disney character, and also my alias/pen name when I with poetry and short stories.

I wanted to somehow include my creativity to writing in a name for my mineral makeup line. I'm just not have any creative juices flowing as of now.

Benefit Cosmetics's - Prrrowl

I was at Sephora on Wednesday, and decided to pick up Benefit's Prrrowl which I had recently seen on Tiffany's October Favorites video (which reminds me I need to do that myself!). It's a really novel idea for a product, but a little odd to place a mascara top coat with a lipgloss. I like the blue glitter top coat, but unfortunately when to put it on it sort of dilutes the mascara you've already put on. So when I put it over my Covergirl LashBlast it takes away some of the effect that the the mascara does for my lashes. The lipgloss is pretty. It's a light candy pink with blue reflects in it. Don't worry the reflects aren't chunky. I wouldn't necessarily use it by itself because I noticed it settles in the lines of my lips. I like using it on top of various lipsticks because of the effect it gives them. For $28 I could definitely pass on this since Benefit makes a clear lipgloss with blue reflects for $18 called California Kissin'. I'd recommended trying it out first at the store before buying just so you can see what I am talking about, or for the fact that you may have a different experience than I did. It's a great idea for a product, but not executed the best way I feel.

darlingclandestine - Etsy Review

The same day I purchased items from ajoeynamedroo I placed an order for a pair or earrings, Steamcherries, and the Sample Collection - Three Calliope Crash Signature Fragrances from darlingclandestine on Etsy. I read the review of darlingclandestine on Le Gothique. There are some awesome earrings in this shop, and the fragrences I received are very nice. They are well concentrated, and stay on the skin all day. Even though it's oil based I still put a tiny bit in my hair :)

I'd have to say that my two favorite fragrances out of the five i received are Step Right Up, and Serpentina. They were all very nice, exotic, and different from anything I've ever tried before. Definitely different in a good way. I can't wait till there are new ones for me to try!!

The samples I purchased were:

Fire Eater -- bright, spicy, odd, indefinable.

Step Right Up -- clean, oceanic, lingering, fascinating. Our most universally pleasing scent.

Big Top Train -- limited-edition holiday fragrance, not for the timid. Very sweet, rich, nutty, spicy.

and I also received samples of these two:

Serpentina -- ethereal green tea with a little opium bite.

Circassian
-- deep, chocolaty, sensuous with an intriguing floral note.

The packaging is super cute, and it was sent in a bubble mailer. The earrings were $14 which I think is very reasonable for handmade earrings, and the sample set of fragrances was $2.50. The shipping for these was $1.50 which is a very good deal since they were packaged carefully, placed in a bubble mailer, and the packaging was super cute.

Would I buy from them again? Yes! I actually can't wait to place another order another pair of earrings, and a full size of Serpentina or Step Right Up.
